So our last blog ended with us sitting in a van about to go under the English Channel into Europe for a mini-tour. It turned out that it was two of the most enjoyable days of our time overseas so far. Not only did we have a driver for the first time ever (which was only due to the fact that we thought it was probably not the best idea to drive across Europe on the wrong side of the road, without knowing where we were going on the day of the gig!!!), but the Germans were extremely hospitable. Hospitable like your mum is when you go over for lunch on a Sunday after forgetting to call her for over a month.

They gave us food, shelter, more food, generous applause, more food, drinks, more food and lots of happy smiles. Did I mention that they fed us extremely well? Needless to say, only playing 2 shows there (in Dortmund and Bielefeld) was definitely not enough and we will get back there as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we have been patiently waiting for our studio gear to arrive from Australia. There was a hold-up in customs because they were charging us some sort of import tax (that ended up being over three times the cost of the actual shipping – AARRRGGGHHH!!!!!). So we took matters into our own hands, went to Cash Converters, bought some mics for less than 20 pounds and started to record stuff ghetto-style. Well, even when all our actual recording gear arrives, it will be a ghetto-style studio, so right now we’re doing it double-ghetto-style. Or something like that.

We have about 3 or 4 more gigs in England before we start the long trek home to play Splendour In The Grass. The plan is to stop in with the lovely people of New York and Los Angeles on the way back and hopefully experience more fulfilling Summer weather. Then after our short stay in Australia, we’re coming back to London to finish the album and do our first ever national tour of England, both of which are EXTREMELY exciting. You can check out all the places we’ll be playing at by heading to our shows page.

Oh yeah, but before we get back to England, we play at a festival in South Africa called Oppi Koppi and get to go on a safari. (Did you like how casually I dropped that one in?)

See you all soooooon,

MC Bad Genius
